EPK

Electronic pop artist + composer Brittany Bindrim released her long-awaited debut album Velella Velella with Metropolis Records on March 8, 2024. Already known for her catchy melodies and powerhouse vocal performances in her band I:Scintilla, she ventures off into foreign sonic terrains as a solo artist with hard-hitting, edgy tracks featuring punishing beats and harsh synthesizers. From moody, ethereal ballads to gritty dance bangers, Velella Velella showcases both the versatility and evolution of her work. This new chapter of Brittany’s career take her into experimental territories with producer Matt McJunkins (A Perfect Circle, Puscifer, Eagles of Death Metal, Poppy). Channeling transformation, sociopolitical climates, and expeditions to understand the darker side of human nature, her vulnerable and unapologetic lyrics showcase themes of self-discovery, empathy, apathy, disillusionment, and growth.

But just when you think you've unraveled the depths of this album's introspective nature, the tempo shifts, and you find yourself amid a pulsating dance floor. This album effortlessly transitions between moods, surprising you at every turn and keeping you guessing what's next. As the final notes fade, you're left with a lingering sense of awe and wonder.

- The Spill Magazine

Yes, this album starts powerfully and well, like a trip that you now know you were always waiting for. And each new moment in that trip gives you every reason to write home and to want more. But it’s the end of that trip that cements this as one of the most effective musical journeys you will hear this decade, because even a great trip that leaves you wanting or wondering at the end will suffer because that is what you will remember. This should be vinyl. It should be a record that kills itself a little every time you play it, one that requires you to wait in line at Sam Goody’s one more time to get it all over again. Because by the end, it died for a good cause. I am clear about what I remember about this trip. And I think you will be too.

  • Dark fascination
    Deny the slow procession pace
    Realm of our creation
    Empire of the headspace
    One fixed point
    Radiant floating in this space
    Burns and shines
Through a burden and a grace

    Rearrange the stars
    When the lights go out
    Betray the natural order
    From afar watch the fallout

Above it all we heard the call
    The echoes from the underground
Droning on, descend to escape, feeling them surround
Saturated in fallen fantasies and now we’re spellbound
    Now we’re spellbound

    Necromancer
Opened a portal of the mind
    Where there is an answer
    To end the question why
    Flickering light
    A possession by a dream
    The origin and ending
    Are never what they seem

    Rearrange the stars
    When the lights go out
    Betray the natural order
    From afar watch the fallout

A broken heart right from the start
    It echoes deep from underground
Calling on, ascend to reshape, feeling the source pound
Recreated through inborn alchemy and now we’re spellbound

Above it all we heard the call
    The echoes from the underground
Droning on, descend to escape, feeling them surround
Saturated in fallen fantasies and now we’re spellbound
    Now we’re spellbound

Brittany
Bindrim: “One Fixed Point" - the third and most compelling single from 'Velella Velella' in my opinion, is a dark, dreamy love song about finding one's counterpoint. The track aims to capture the pinnacle of intoxicating infatuation and bliss – that ephemeral moment where one becomes entangled in the sublime joy of immersing oneself in another. It explores that delicate balance between losing yourself in the intensity of the shared moment and discovering a heightened sense of completeness.

Obelisk - Debut single

Electronic pop artist Brittany Bindrim released her debut single “Obelisk” on December 8, 2023 on Metropolis Records, along side a tragically beautiful, dystopian video by Simona Noreik. Already known for her catchy melodies and powerhouse vocal performances in her band I:Scintilla, she ventures off into foreign sonic terrains as a solo artist with the hard-hitting, edgy single featuring punishing beats and harsh synthesizers. This new chapter of Brittany’s career take her into experimental territories with producer Matt McJunkins (A Perfect Circle, Puscifer, Eagles of Death Metal, Poppy). In Obelisk, lyrically Brittany explores themes of tribalism, political divides, collective trauma, and surrendering to peace. Within the music, there is interplay between the lyrical surrender and the harder edged, percussive musical elements. Keep your eyes peeled for her album drop on March 8, 2024.

Brittany Bindrim: “Lyrically, Obelisk explores themes of tribalism, political divides, collective trauma, and surrendering to peace. Within the music, there is interplay between the lyrical surrender and the harder edged, percussive musical elements. When writing Obelisk, the heavier drums and the main driving bass synth line were written first which then inspired the pleading vocal melody. I had previously written a lyrical seedling that was close to what ended up in the chorus lines, which I thought fit perfectly and helped spawn the rest of the lyrics in conjunction with the harder, marching energy of music. But the songwriting process of each song on this album was a little different track to track. Some songs were spawned from a vocal or lyrical idea, and on a few tracks a synth melody and vocal were first written together all at once. In the end, I didn’t try to force ideas or over-think things, so each song on the album developed very naturally and instinctively."
